Route

  1. 1

    Oshoin of Sasayama Castle

Sasayama Castle was built in 1609 in the Sasayama Basin by Tokugawa Ieyasu after his victory in the Battle of Sekigahara. During the Edo period (1603-1867), it served as the political, economic, and cultural center of Sasayama, but after the Meiji Restoration, most of the buildings in the castle were demolished, leaving only the Oshoin. It was designated as a national historic site in 1956. Unfortunately, the original Oshoin was destroyed by fire in 1944, but was restored and rebuilt in 2000.

  2. 2

    Taisho Romantic Pavilion

The former Sasayama Town Hall was renovated to create a Taisho Modern atmosphere. There is also a restaurant using local products, souvenirs, and local ingredients from Sasayama. Homemade sweets and black bean juice are popular.

  3. 3

    Odagaki Shop

It is a long-established business of black soybeans established in 1974. Odawara Shoten is dedicated to Tamba black soybeans and Tamba Dainagon azuki, and through the efforts of our predecessors, they have repeatedly selected the black and azuki beans that have been cultivated since ancient times to produce today's large and delicious large Tamba black soybeans and Tamba Dainagon azuki.

  4. 4

    Kawaramachi Tsumairi Merchant Housing District

It is a beautiful town lined with merchant houses built around 1620. There is a perfect balance between old stores such as tatami mat stores and pottery stores and new stores such as cafes and general merchandise stores. This is a standard course for a stroll when visiting Tanba Sasayama.
