About Me

Hello, I'm Miyuki Okanishi. I live in Nara, an old capital of Japan, 40km south from Kyoto. As a guide, I have been enjoying exploring Japan with people from all over the world. Japan is filled with beauty which will charm you a lot. It might be of nature, arts, or mind.
I'm a passionate lover of Japanese arts.
In my tours , I will introduce Aizome (Japanese indigo dying) ,pottery-making, and Kintsugi (pottery repair with a lacquer mixed with gold and silver) You will meet the artists. Talking with them is very fun and inspiring, and gives you a key for a better understanding of Japanese arts.
Japan's beauty changes with each season. Seasonal events and festivals showcase the great variety of Japanese arts.. In my tour you'll enjoy Gion festival, one of the three festivals in Japan held in Kyoto in July, with kyoto locals.
I'm a jazz lover and an amateur vocalist . I will introduce beautiful Japanese songs.
I work as an interpreter and counsellor at the Kyoto international foundation which caters to people from all aver the world living in Kyoto. and work as a medical interpreter in Osaka and Nara.
I'm very looking forward to seeing you and discovering something new about the beauty of Japan with you. Remember me as Myu, myumyu, or Miyuki.
