What we'll do
・Tokyo is an attractive city with newness and antiquity coexist. Yanaka, Nezu and Sendagi, which are in a downtown district of Tokyo, are collectively called "YANESEN", and have become a popular spot for downtown strolling.
・There are many shrines and temples in this area, including the family temple of the Tokugawa Clan "Kaneiji" and "Nezu Jinja" shrine which was created 1900 years ago. One of the main spots is "Yanaka Ginza" shopping street, which is crowded with both men and women, young and old, as there is everything from old established shops opened 100 years ago, to modern sweet shops. Many cats also gather at the "Yuyake Dandan" staircase, which is a sanctuary for taking pictures of cats, located at the entrance of the shopping street. Once you get into a small alley, you can see the everyday life of Japan.
・The tour is a half day tour either in the morning or in the afternoon. Starting at Ueno station, onto Ueno park and Kaneiji temple, followed by strolling around the Yanaka area. The tour will conclude at Nippori station.

Kanei-ji Temple
Kanei-ji temple was built in 1625 by the Tokugawa shogunates as a prayer temple. It later also served as a family temple and entombed here are six former shoguns.

Nezu-Jinja Shrine
Nestled in lush greenery with Koi ponds and a pathway lined with the familiar arches of Torii gates, the Nezu-jinja shrine is arguably one of the most photogenic places of worship in Tokyo.
