Hotokegaura is a secluded place where you can see many rocks and cliffs along the coast. There are huge white-green rocks with mysterious shapes such as human faces and flower-like shapes. These were created from underwater volcanic eruptions and uplifted geological formations, which have been worn down by wind, rain, and waves. These strange rock formations continue for about 2 km. The site where they are located is a masterpiece of nature. The rocks were named after Buddha. Be sure to enjoy the superb view which was selected as one of the top 100 unexplored areas in Japan and is said to be “Gokuraku Jodo (Heaven)”.
