Every spring, the 600 cherry trees that line both sides of the road beginning at Izu-Kogen Station and heading towards Mt. Omuro bloom, creating a 1.8-mile-long (3km) tunnel of cherry blossoms. During the blooming season, food stalls are set up in the plaza in front of Izu-Kogen Station, so visitors will have their pick of dishes and snacks to indulge in while they enjoy the blossoms. There are also yozakura night blossom illuminations after dark.
