Saitama has many traditional schools in the north of the prefecture that make their name in rugby. The Kumagaya Rugby Grounds has become a symbol of the rugby world in Japan as it is the venue for the National High School Rugby Tournament selections in Spring. The nearest tourist spot to Kumagaya Station is Seikeiken, a garden containing 3 historic buildings and a large, excursion garden. It is an 18 minute walk from the station. While far from the station and the stadium, near the Tone River is 'Menuma Shodenzan', the first structure designated as a national treasure in Saitama. When visiting, be sure to take a stroll through the grounds.
