The Shin Hotaka Ropeway which climbs up Gifu prefecture's Hotake Mountain Range is notable for several reasons. For a start, it is actually two ropeways, the first bringing you 200 meters (650 feet) up the mountain, while the second brings you up a sharper 800 meters (2600 feet) to the upper station. The ropeway features a unique double decker gondola car. You will find that at both stops, there's plenty to explore and enjoy. There are even restaurants at both stations, alongside some memorabilia. Additionally a small art gallery can be found at the 200 meter mark station. Hiking up the mountain is possible, too, though prepare for a vigorous climb
