Shirogane Blue Pond is a mysterious pond whose water appears to be tinted blue. It is a famous viewing spot in the Furano and Biei area. It is said that when the ground water from the Shirahige Waterfall in the Shirogane hot spring area, which includes aluminum particles, mixes with the water in the Biei River it creates blue light reflections. The contrast between the lush greens of the trees near the river side and the old pine trees reflected in the water create a mystical charm.
