The Showa Memorial Park is a haven of natural beauty that spreads across Tachikawa City and Akishima City of the Tokyo metropolitan area. The park was built to commemorate Prince Hirohito, the Showa Emperor, and it was originally used as a military base. Currently, it’s popular among both children and adults as a place for relaxation and recreation. Within the park there are sprawling flower beds, and seasonal flowers such as nemophila in spring and sunflowers in summer dye the landscape in bright colors when they bloom.
