Toyokawa Inari is the popular name of a Zen Buddhist temple in Toyokawa city, Aichi prefecture. It was founded in the 15th century by a Soto Zen monk in the tradition of Dogen. The formal name of the temple is Toyokawa Kaku Myogonji Temple. Inari, in the popular name, refers to the protective deity of the temple that is enshrined here and accompanied by fox messengers. However, the main Buddha image is a thousand-armed Kannon Bodhisattva.
