Yahiko Jinja Shrine is the most prestigious Shinto shrine in Niigata and has a long history dating back to ancient times. The Shrine houses a deity which is said to be an “All Purpose God,” who is believed to bless all business within the area. The Shrine stands as a famous power spot which holds many legends, including a mysterious “fire jade.” It is said that if you lift the jade using little force, your wish would be granted, but would fail if you used strong force. Even if you are not interested in visiting the shrine to pray for good fortune, the scenic location surrounded by mountains makes Yahiko Jinja Shrine well-worth a visit.
