Yoro no Taki Falls of Gifu prefecture, is a scenic woodland waterfall. It is most beautiful in spring during the cherry blossom season when all of the flowers are in bloom, as the lush green and pink scenery gives the waterfall a uniquely beautiful aesthetic. Should you choose to visit the falls, be sure to search for some of the Yoro Sanroku Cider from shops around the area. Historically, the fall was known for its ancient legend wherein a son gave his sick father water from Yoro Falls, which tasted like sake; upon drinking the water, he returned to good health. Upon the Empress Gensho hearing of this tale, she visited them herself and drank the water, choosing then to name the era of her reign Yoro, after the falls.
