The ecology of salmon and a variety of other northern freshwater fish can be seen and experienced at the Chitose Salmon Aquarium. Within the establishment, there are showings of the "Salmon Movie," which depicts the lives of salmon, as well as an underwater observation room that allows visitors to see directly into the water of the Chitosegawa River and observe the creatures that inhabit it during each of the seasons. A mere 15 minutes from New Chitose Airport by car, this establishment is great for a first stop on a trip to Hokkaido or for enjoying a bit of extra time before a flight out.
