Marukoma Onsen is an onsen inn famous for its observatory open-air bath from which bathers can gaze out at the Shikotsuko Lake that lies directly in front. The hot spring water of this natural open-air bath gushes out directly at your feet, and it's said that there are only about 20 of these baths in all of Japan. This one in particular has been bubbling up continuously since it was founded 1915. Due to the salt content in the water, the heat-retaining effects of the baths continue even after getting out.
