Francis Xavier Memorial Church

Art & Architecture

This Catholic church was built in 1952 to commemorate 400 years since the coming of Missionary Xavier to Japan. The innovative design, with two 53m towers and a triangular pyramid roof covering the whole building, was all built with the themes of "water," "light," and "tabernacle tent." Inside the chapel, there are many stained glass windows, and a pipe organ has been installed. The sound of the bell ringing to announce every hour is a famous feature of the church.
