Oyama Koen Park is one of the top spots for cherry blossoms in Nagasaki Prefecture. The rolling hills along the ocean are covered in around 700 cherry trees, and in spring whole swaths of the area are dyed pink. The shidare-zakura (weeping cherry) and Yoshino cherry trees are especially popular among visitors, along with the nighttime yozakura illuminations. The Oyama Koen Park Cherry Blossom Festival is also held during the blooming season, usually in mid-April.
