The Fukiji Temple is a Buddhist temple in Oita Prefecture that was built in the Heian period (794 A.D. to 1185 A.D.). Fuki-Ji Ō-dō is the oldest wooden building in existence in Kyushu and is designated a national treasure. The statue of Amida Buddha set up in the temple is also designated a national important cultural property. Spring fresh green and winter snow scenery, fall scenery where all the grounds are colored red with autumnal leaves, are all a must-see.
