Isshingyou no Oozakura is a famous cherry blossom tree in Aso, Kumamoto Prefecture, that is over 400 years old. At the same time as the cherry blossoms, the canola flowers surrounding the tree also come into bloom, creating a beautiful contrast of yellow and pink. At night, the flowers are illuminated, creating a romantic atmosphere for visitors to enjoy. Because the tree is of the mountain cherry variety, however, it has a shorter blooming period than the more common Yoshino cherry type. The illuminations are generally only held for three days, so make sure to not to miss out!
