The Kyoto Botanical Gardens, located in Kitayama in the northeastern part of Kyoto City, is a top destination for plant lovers and families alike. Featured there are approximately 20 themed areas that showcase over 12,000 species of plant life, including not only those endemic to Japan, but also a European-style garden and a rose garden. There is also a large conservatory that exhibits around 4,500 species of plants from around the world. Located on the banks of the Kamogawa River, the Kyoto Botanical Gardens is an excellent place to take a stroll and spend an afternoon surrounded by nature.
