Mishakaike Pond is a scenic spot in Nagano Prefecture which is known for reflecting the seasonal natural scenery like a mirror. Depending on the time of the day it is said to look completely different. It is located deep inside the mountains of Nagano, making it difficult to access without a car. The pond is used to warm up the cold, clear mountain water so as to make it usable for local agriculture (esp. rice plantations). It is prohibited to enter the embankment of the pond, but it is possible to enjoy the scenery from a distance.
