Okayamajo Castle

Culture Experience History

Okayama Castle was completed in 1597, having taken 8 years to build. The three-tiered, six-story Donjon Tower's exterior is coated with paneling that has been painted black and, due to its black appearance, the castle is also known by the nickname "Crow Castle." It is now designated as a Japan National Historic Site, and currently holds Okayama Prefecture’s historical documents on display. The architectural features are wonderful to see as well. Climb up to the sixth floor observation deck for a panoramic view of the whole Okayama.
