Rairaikyo Gorge, located in the Akiu Onsen area of Miyagi Prefecture, is truly a magical setting with the majestic Natori River flowing downstream. However, it is the “Lover’s Sanctuary” location that makes this a must-see destination. From the Nozokibashi Bridge visitors can gaze upon the heart-shaped imprint left by nature along the canyon wall. With beliefs of prosperity falling upon couples that look at the imprint, this is a romantic setting like no other. If you are visiting Akiu Onsen, make sure to go for a walk and enjoy the scenery of Rairaikyo Gorge.
