The Sennindo Shrine is a historical shrine located in the forest on the Mogami riverbank in Yamagata Prefecture. Sennindo is featured in Japanese novels and children's books. It has a more than 800-year history and is associated with the warrior Minamoto no Yoshitsune and the poet Matsuo Basho who are both said to have visited here.
