Shimantogawa River in Kochi prefecture is a winding, scenic river. Having never been dammed, it has been left for centuries to the whims of nature. All of the landforms around its banks are natural and the fishing that occurs in its waters all happens by traditional methods. In a number of the offshoot tributaries of the Shimantogawa, you will be able to find waterwheels feeding water onto crops. Beautiful as a region, it is highly recommended to explore the length of the Shimantogawa River and see what catches your eye.
