Toro Ruins

Art & Architecture History

The Toro Ruins are ancient ruins from the Yayoi Era (5th century BC to 3rd century AD) and are located in Shizuoka Prefecture. In an archaeological dig, daily necessities such as earthenware and stoneware hunting and fishing tools, wooden farming tools, and ornaments such as bronze jewelry were discovered in addition to ruins of dwellings, warehouses, wells, and paddy fields. Currently, the dwellings, storehouses, and rice paddies in the ruins are being restored, and the adjacent Toro Museum holds an exhibition of a simulated experience of daily life from that era.
