Hakone Museum of Art

Art & Architecture Beautiful Scenery History

Founded by Mokichi Okada in 1952, The Hakone Museum of Art is located in Kanagawa Prefecture. It focuses primarily on showcasing Japanese ceramics dating as far back as prehistoric times and up until the Edo Period (1600-1867). The museum is also surrounded by beautiful greenery including a moss garden and a bamboo grove. The gardens are known for their beautiful autumn foliage in November and during this season parts of the gardens that are usually closed are opened to the public. There is also a treehouse that visitors can scale and enjoy some green tea at the top for a small fee.
