Kaminokoike Pond is a small pond 5 meters deep and 220 meters in circumference created from underground water flowing from Mashuko Lake. Mashuko Lake is called Kamuito in the Ainu language, which means "lake of the gods," thus giving the pond made from its waters its name; kaminoko literally means "child of the gods." The pond is characteristic of its clear, blue water, and the temperature of its water is low throughout the year, so instead of rotting, fallen trees petrify. Inside the pond, a kind of fish with scarlet flecks called dolly varden can be seen swimming about, and the petrified trees sinking into the blue of the water make for a mysterious and beautiful sight.

*Route 1115 that leads to the pond is a wooden road. The parking facilities (free) are also unpaved.
*During winter, there is no snow removal. Please note that sometimes there is still snow in the area through May.
*Every year around February, the Kanimokoike Pond Snowshoe Tour is held.
