Koka Ninja Village

Culture Experience Outdoor Activities

The Koka Ninja Village is an experience facility in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, the birthplace of the Koka ninja. In this hidden village surrounded by a virgin forest, visitors can learn about the history and culture of the ninja.
The Karakuri Trick House is one of the houses that the descendants of the Koka ninja once lived in, and hidden in it a variety of mechanisms such as secret paths and staircases, hidden doors, and more. Created by reconstructing thatched-roof houses, the Koka Ninjutsu Museum boasts exhibits of weapons commonly used by ninja and the Mansen Shukai, a document of ninja techniques.
In addition, the village is dotted with nine ninja dojo training spots, at which visitors can try out activities such as rock climbing, tightrope walking, water-walking, and more in genuine training sessions. There is also ninja attire for rent, a popular way for visitors to feel like real ninja during the training sessions.
