Mojiko Station is a railway station building in Kitakyushu City that is a nationally selected Important Cultural Property. From the Meiji period through the early Showa period, Mojiko Port was one of Japan's three major ports. During the war, trading vessels and passenger ships came and went, and it prospered as a port that sent out soldiers and military stores. Later, Mojiko Station was built. It is a two-story wooden building with the unique bilateral symmetry of the Neo-Renaissance style. Restoration construction extended for six years, and in 2019 the station had its grand opening. Inside the station there are a lot of places where the history of Mojiko Port can be felt, in particular the spot that marks Kyushu Railways' starting point, the "Zero Mile Marker," and where soldiers who came back safely from the war drank "return water" in relief. The station is illuminated at night as well, so don't miss out on the retro atmosphere.
