Fukuoka is a prefecture located on the island of Kyushu, the most southern of Japan's four main islands. Fukuoka is at the center of Kyushu's politics, economy, culture and fashion and Fukuoka city, it's biggest city, is always bustling with energy. Fukuoka is also famous for being the doorway to Asia with many International flights frequenting the prefecture, with almost instant access into downtown Fukuoka from the airport. It is for this reason that Fukuoka is the most popular destination in Japan for Chinese, Korean and Taiwanese tourists to visit for quick weekend visits. Fukuoka prefecture accounts for 40% of the entire economy of Kyushu, being one of Japan's major industrial centers in Japan, with a strong business background in the automobile and steel industries. Fukuoka is also a center for gourmet and tasty street foods, with Hakata Ramen being a nationwide favorite which has since gone on to spread all over the world and become a hugely popular dish for all nationalities.
