Niigata Furusato Village is a roadside station filled with all the charms and attractions of Niigata with plenty of discoveries and surprises! Niigata Furusato Village is popular with not only tourists but many locals also visit this bustling collection of outdoor facilities where you can enjoy the changing of the seasons. For example, enjoy Niigata gourmet food at the bazaar pavilion, and follow Niigata’s history at the appeal pavilion! At the bazaar pavilion, you can find a large assortment of specialty sake, rice, and fish products from all over 30 different cities, towns and villages across Niigata. You can also enjoy local cuisine and some cheap eats too!
In the uniquely designed appeal pavilion, there is a floor where you can find all the most recent information on Niigata and sightseeing in Niigata, and then on a different floor find out about Niigata’s history and how people in Niigata lived over previous generations and time periods with a theatre that projects all kinds of information.
Outside the pavilions you can find a nice flower garden with Niigata’s official flower; the tulip in spring, and from summer through autumn the dahlia brightens up the garden with their seasonal beautiful colors. Every year each season has a new design to the way the flowers are displayed giving regular visitors fresh scenery every time. Next, to the flower garden you can find a park built in the image of the great Shinano river flowing into the Sea of Japan, a great place to relax and let time just go by.
