Northern Culture Museum

The Northern Cultural Museum was once the residence of a local renowned merchant family, the Ito family. It had housed eight generations and was the first private museum established in Japan after WWII. With around 6,000 exhibits in total, the residence has an abundance of different art collections owned by each generation's Ito master. The collection focuses on the art of Japan, China and Korea, and the building itself is considered to be a beautiful artwork. The garden outside, which took a famous garden designer, who had worked on Ginkaku-Ji Temple of Kyoto for five years, is a sight to be seen.
