Sankiro

Art & Architecture Food & Drink History

Sankiro was constructed in 1931 in Mojiko Port as a high-end traditional Japanese restaurant, and in 1951 it had a renewal opening. The building is made of wood, with three stories and over 20 rooms, and it is the biggest restaurant structure currently existing in Kyushu. Inside the building, there are exhibits on the history of Sankiro and Mojiko Port as well as long-established puffer fish restaurant Sankiro Saryo. From midday tea time to full-fledged puffer fish cuisine in the evening, visitors will have the chance to taste a variety of kaiseki courses. There is also a space on the second floor where Noh dances and other performances are given which can be viewed for free when the room is not being specially rented out.
*Reservations are required for evening meals.
