Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden was once an Imperial Garden, its construction completed in 1906. After World War II, it was opened to the public as a national garden. The grounds have an area of over 58 hectares, and within them are both Japanese- and Western-style gardens. It is a popular place within the city for people to refresh and relax, and every year plenty of visitors come to see the cherry blossoms in spring and colorful foliage in autumn. Anyone looking for a green space while in Tokyo should make sure to stop by, but make sure to check the garden’s opening hours before visiting.

*Bringing alcohol into the garden is prohibited. Please also refrain from using play equipment in the garden (except in the Kid's Area).
