Takadajo Castle Ruins

Art & Architecture History

Takada Castle is a historical castle in Niigata, Japan that was the political center of the Takada domain during the Tokugawa period (1600-1867). While many parts of the castle were destroyed, the castle tower was reconstructed and makes for a great scene. It is located inside a park that is famous for cherry blossom viewing in spring. During that season, the castle is illuminated at night and draws huge crowds.
