Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art & Design

Art & Architecture

Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art & Design (TAD) features an impressive collection of modern and contemporary art as well as international exhibitions. Its collection spans the period of the early 20th century to today and focuses on international art, Japanese art, and local Toyama art. Notable international artists include Joan Miro, Jackson Pollack, and Francis Bacon. However, the museum is not a traditional art museum: it combines art and design exhibits to provide new perspectives and inspiration and works together with local artists and traditional artisans. The museum's many interactive exhibits and workshops also make this an exciting spot for families with children. The museum is situated in a beautiful location next to the Kansui Park and offers a view of the Tateyama Mountain Range. If you are at least somewhat interested in art and design, make sure to stop by on your visit to Toyama city.
