We are creating an eco-village on a 2 hectare sized abandoned farming area on Yakushima island.
Yakushima Island was registered as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in 1993, and it is called "the island of ancient forest and water" because of the huge Yaku cedars, which are over 1,000 years old, moss and its abundant water system.
Yakushima's ecosystem is most unique in the north area, the life here is a perfect connection between all elements.
There are so many different plants and animals living all together, and because 95% of the island is covered in forest there is lots of wild power.
However, the real attraction of Yakushima is the kind people who live here in harmony with nature.
If you want to meet traditional open hearted and minded people this is the best place to be.
In my eco village, you can join our farming and also can learn a lot of things about gardening, building and how to live whilst respecting nature. I hope I can introduce you to my wonderful little world!
