Isso Beach is located in the port city of Isso, located at the northernmost point of Yakushima Island, Kagoshima Prefecture. It is known as a landmark where fishers can easily confirm the location of their boats. Isso Beach is mainly a swimming beach, but on the opposite side of the swimming area there is also a diving spot and large coral reef that is home to plenty of colorful fish.
The beach itself is only open for swimming during summer vacation. It is equipped with showers, changing rooms, and rest areas, so visitors have all the facilities they need for a comfortable day in the sun. Beach huts are open during the swimming season as well, and the area bustles with tourists and locals alike. Nearby there are all kinds of leisure facilities including athletic fields and campgrounds, making it a popular destination for families.
