Located in Miyagi prefecture, Zao Okama Crater is aptly named for its appearance of a traditional cooking pot (okama). A volcanic crater lake, it is especially scenic for the "Goshikinuma" lake of five colors, where the intensity of light changes the surface color of the lake. Different seasons produce different hues and brightness of the light's level. It can be viewed from a safe distance from a network of scenic mountain roads for a small fee.
