Hakata

Hakata is the name of a district in Fukuoka, but is also the old name of the autonomous city that is now known as Fukuoka city today. Hakata is one of themain industrial districts in Fukuoka city and acts as the main transportation hub of Kyushu with Fukuoka's main train station, Hakata Station, Fukuoka Airport and the Hakata Port international passenger ship terminal all located within the district. It is also the name used when refering to the local dialect in Fukuoka, "Hakata-ben", as well as the famous ramen (noodles) of the region, Hakata Ramen.
