Funa Riverbank Cherry Blossoms

Beautiful Scenery Insta-worthy

The best time to see the cherry blossoms in Toyama is usually mid-April, and the Funa River boasts the blossoms of 250 Yoshino cherry trees lining both banks and stretching 800 meters. The cherry trees on the riverside create a sort of tunnel, and when the flowers are in full bloom, they contrast beautifully with the mountainous backdrop of the Northern Alps. In addition, the tulips and canola flowers that can be found near the cherry trees bloom at the same time, creating a picturesque view of seasonal flora. The collection of cherry blossoms, lingering snow on the mountains, tulips, and canola flowers is known as the "spring quartet," and the sight is not one to miss.
The Asahi Cherry Blossom Festival is held during the blooming period, and with a variety of food stalls lined up, it's an excellent spot for hanami. When the flowers are in full bloom, there are also illuminations after dark, so visitors can enjoy romantic views of evening blossoms.
