The Heiwadai Koen Park is a vast urban park in the hilly area of Miyazaki City. It is famous for a “Tower of Peace”, which is 37 meters high and built in the 1940s. It was constructed out of 1789 stones, and was the tallest building in Japan at the time. In addition, there are many unusual sightseeing spots such as the Haniwa Park, where about 400 haniwa clay figurines stand in rows in the forest, the Olympic flame platform of the Tokyo Olympic Games of 1964, and an artificial ski area.
