Kannon-in Temple (Tottori)

Beautiful Scenery History

Kannon-in is a Buddhist temple located in Tottori City. The temple was built in the early Edo period, and it is well known even today for its Japanese teien garden that emulates the style of the time in which it was built. A beautiful pond occupies half of the garden, and a variety of trees and flowering plants cover the rest, so visitors can enjoy spring cherry blossoms or autumn foliage during a leisurely stroll. The garden has also been designated as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty by the Japanese government.
Additionally, this temple is the 32nd of 33 Buddhist temples in the Chugoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage, a route which stretches across Tottori, Shimane, Hiroshima, Okayama, and Yamaguchi prefectures.
