The Sand Museum in Tottori prefecture is the only art museum in the world to display sand sculptures carved using sand. You can find many works by a number of artisans from around the world on display here. Additionally, you can find a corner outside where you can try your hand making sand statues yourself. Each year, since different themes are produced and exhibited, there is an extended closure period over the wintertime. However, this only results in the museum being more worthy of visiting after the wait.
