At the Kushirogawa River Canoe Touring of Lakeside Toro, the most popular of the Kushiro Shitsugen Wetlands canoeing experiences is canoeing with a guide. Because the canoes used on these tours are large, they don't sway very much, so it's easy for small children and the elderly to participate. The tour is an approximately 5.6mi (9km) course that departs from Toroko Lake in the Kushiro Shitsugen Wetlands and passes through tributaries and the main stream, extending all the way to Hosooka. The course is full of nature that can only be accessed by canoe, and it's sure to be a fully enjoyable experience. Different scenery can be enjoyed in each of the four seasons, and with a little luck, visitors might also have the chance to see rare wild animals, such as red-crowned cranes or white-tailed eagles.
