Visitors to the Onnenai Boardwalk can enjoy viewing the plants of the nearby Kushiro Shitsugen Wetlands while taking a stroll along a designated walking trail. The barrier-free boardwalk extends for about 1.2 miles with its starting points at the Onnenai Visitor Center, which includes a rest space and a station with information about the wetlands. Around the boardwalk, there are a variety of seasonal flowers, wild birds, and deer, and in July and August heike-botaru fireflies can be seen as well. In addition, cross-country skiing can be enjoyed here during winter.
