Mikuni Chochin Itoya is a shop producing and selling traditional Japanese paper lanterns (chochin) in Sakai city, Fukui Prefecture. It was founded in 1791 and keeps the traditional crafts methods alive. At the same time, it is also working to make them more accessible to a contemporary audience: it operates a cafe to entice visitors to stay longer and offers workshops where you can learn how to make your own paper lantern, which you can take home!
