Standing at only 116 meters, Mt. Asuwa of Fukui Prefecture is small in stature, but still a lovely place to visit. The mountain has a number of short hiking trails and walking courses, and the summit offers a beautiful view of Fukui City. It’s an especially popular spot to visit during spring to view the cherry blossoms and early summer for hydrangeas, and the city nightscape is stunning all year round. The mountain also sports a small zoo, history museum, and shrine as well as restaurants and tea houses.
