Nikahotto is a comprehensive facility featuring sightseeing information for all of Akita Prefecture and the Shonai region of Yamagata Prefecture. It also provides shops selling items such as locally produced vegetables and seafood, and finally a foot bath area. Inside you'll find an interactive touchscreen that functions as a tourist information panel where you can create your own sightseeing route. You'll also find a vast selection of sightseeing brochures from municipalities within the prefecture. The market area offers a glimpse into people’s lives in the region and has an abundance of stock of fresh local fish and vegetables. Decorative lighting is set up in the wintertime, making it possible to appreciate the area in a new way in the evenings.

Nikahotto also functions as a relaxation space, with a spaciously high ceiling and a food court with roughly 100 seats, it's a great place to take a break. There is also a ‘kid’s space’ available and a nursing room, making Nikahotto a safe and convenient place for bringing along young children. Soft playing blocks, a ball pool, and stuffed toys are among the items available for children to play with. In addition, since it's all indoors, there's no need to worry about the weather.
Nikahotto has a foot bath area filled with water from a natural hot spring. Nicknamed "ashi hotto," the foot bath can fit around 50 people at once, and in the summer it's an excellent place to relax while viewing Mount Chokai in the distance.
