Oyasukyo Daifunto is located in a beautiful ravine that cuts through the forested landscape of Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture. Yuzawa is known for its onsen hot springs, and it is this 98℃ hot spring water that flows through the ravine, resulting in clouds of steam that billow up towards the sky. On either side of the stream are rocky cliffs with plenty of trees, and the white steam creates a beautiful contrast with the dark stone and colorful leaves.
The ravine is equipped with a walking path, so visitors can see the thermal activity from just a few meters away during a leisurely stroll. Additionally, while there are plenty of onsen resorts in the nearby towns, Oyasukyo Daifunto’s parking lot has a free footbath open to the public, so visitors can take a break and rest their feet after their trek down the ravine.
